Matthew Somweber, Director of Operations, and Allyson Nordstrom-Geraghty, director of GSA Services of the General Services Administration’s (GSA) International Division at Arpin, have joined The FIDI Charity Committee.
The FIDI Charity Committee, the charitable arm of the FIDI Global Alliance, works to support charity projects in underdeveloped areas where the FIDI community can make a tangible difference in the lives of those most in need. Selected projects are provided a three-year commitment during which time the FIDI Charity Committee organizes numerous events and activities to raise funds to benefit the designated project.
“A huge hole was left at Arpin and within our industry with the unexpected passing of both Bob Sullivan and Mark Dearborn. Both gentlemen held charity and service to others in the highest regard, were involved in numerous charitable organizations, including personal charities close to their hearts, as well as Arpin Strong, and Mark’s role serving on FIDI’s Charity Committee,” said Allyson Nordstrom-Geraghty. “Matt and I both felt that joining FIDI’s Charity Committee was the only thing to do going forward. It is our honor, privilege, and we are both so excited to join our FIDI colleagues to help expand on all the amazing work that they’ve done to date! It is truly an honor and we do it in memory of two best friends.”
“Matt and Ally are highly respected professionals in the international removals and relocation community,” said Laura Gannon, chair of the FIDI Charity Committee. “They care deeply about our mission and the families we serve, and we are excited to have them join our board as we continue to expand our global work.”
For the past three years, the FIDI Charity Committee has focused on raising monies for Operation Smile Honduras, a medical mission that provides children born with cleft lip and palate malformations to receive lifesaving surgeries. In 2019, the organization was able to surpass its fundraising goal, having raised over USD $165,000 to benefit the mission. Once all surgeries have been completed, 330 children and their families will have benefitted from the donations provided exclusively through FIDI. The organization is currently reviewing proposals submitted by affiliates to select its next charity project beneficiary.
Arpin Strong has supported Operation Smile Honduras by selecting the charity as one of its monthly causes, raising $1,000 from Arpin Group employees and making several donations to help the organization surpass its fundraising goal by stepping up to its final call to action and donating $2,500 and $400 respectively, in the name of Mark Dearborn, former FIDI Charity Committee member and Arpin Group’s vice president of global accounts, following his recent death.
Matthew was also recently appointed as a member of the Arpin Strong board of directors.
